Heat?

I just thought of something..
Recently, the hot season is back.
And afternoons are the hottest hours.
And computers and laptops contribute further towards the heat (a lot actually).
So, I may as well shut down my laptop and do something else.
But not sleep, kay...  xD

So, yeap.. gonna start adapting this habit now.
Gonna be saving energy more and more~
And reducing the surrounding heat.

So, if u still see me online in the afternoons,
please check on me... haha.. thanks.

Gonna start now~ another commitment~ :D

Yay~ one week of commitment =)

It's now exactly one week after the Earth Hour.
And I have kept my commitment till now.

I did not switch on my table light for one week already~!
And in addition, unlike last time...
now I also switch off my laptop and speakers whenever I'm not using it. :)

And the feeling is.. COOL~
It cools down the heart and cools me down physically (less heat generated)... lolx.

Even now.. 1.30am.. the room light is off..
and I still kept my table light OFF... hehe..
The laptop is bright enough to light up the area around it..
And I'm writing this post now..
with lights only from my laptop  :D

Yay~!

And dont worry about damage to the eyes..
It doesnt work that way..
So far so good..
And I will definitely continue this habit~

Save energy... it has to start somewhere..
Why not ourselves?

Earth Spirit

Earth Hour just passed about 3 days back.

And I've still kept the spirit till now.

I haven't been using my desk lamp since that night till now. Basically, I did not switch on my table light ever since the Earth Hour 3 days ago, except for about two hours last night, to do some serious readings. Apart from that two hours, I've kept the lights off all this while.

And..you know what? I find it kinda cool though~ haha.
It cools down the heart... and obviously, cools you physically.

Since most of my readings and studies are done on the laptop screen, I don't actually need the table light anymore. Even when the room light is switched off at night, I do not switch on the desk lamp, simply because the light from the screen is bright enough to light up the small area around it, which for me is sufficient already.

So, yeap.. I'm gonna keep this habit~
Big thanks to the Earth Hour! Yay~

Nuclear Power!

It’s been over 30 years since a nuclear plant has been constructed in the US, and these federal guarantees are essential to the creation of new reactors due to the high initial cost involved. President Obama cast the loan guarantees as economically essential and politically attractive, however we have to ask — why aren’t such significant investments being made into cleaner renewable energy solutions such as wind and solar?

I believe this is just a transition phase of electricity tech, and it's needed that way; balancing environment factors, cost factors, etc.

Facebook and the New Interface

On the technical side... yeah.. there's still some temporary problems with the new system like with the Twitter feeds and so on... They are on the way fixing it.

On the interface itself... many people says it sucks, actually because they are not used to it yet. Same case for me. All this is also new to me. But let's really look at it and compare with the previous. The arrangements are made more systematic and convenient. The most common activities we do on Facebook are now easily available at the left sidebar... all of them; News feed, photos, videos, messages, and most of all.. our most often played games... All available at the sidebar. Then, the notifications are now located at the top, as a drop-down. 

This arrangement is more tidy in the sense that, we no longer need to look at bottom left of the screen for the games, then run our eyes to the bottom right for the notifications, then run our eyes all the way to the top left for the messages, then top right to logout. Get what I mean? The previous design requires us to run our eyes everywhere to fully use Facebook. Now, we just need to focus on the top half of the screen, which is more natural to the eyes, because our eyes by nature is more comfortable looking straight than looking down. By looking straight we will see the top part of the screen.

And yeap, another systematic feature is that the things we do most often are now grouped together for better convenience. Cool.

So, the new design is indeed much simplified, systematic, and tidier. Great work, developers! Give us some time and we'll get used to it.

ADD::: SURPRISING news for my environmentalist friends. Just found out that Facebook is powered by coal plants, the number 1 cause of climate change.

Save The World?

I know there's now a lot of dispute regarding the Copenhagen Conference, COP15. I'm not gonna talk about that. Ok. I just saw this video, which is actually the COP15 opening film. The main content is about a girl having a nightmare about natural disasters getting more wild and out of control. After watching it, certain thoughts come to mind.

Nature, though without brain, is far smarter than us humans. We better not play around with nature. When nature retaliates, we are sure to lose. In the end, we are destroying ourselves, not the world. The earth will just recycle itself naturally, in time. We humans cannot.

The tagline in the video was "We have the power to save the world". If "the world" means the people, then it's fine. But, if it's talking about the earth, then I'll simply say that we do not need to be concerned about the earth. The earth is fine, and will always be fine. It has all the antibodies it needs to keep itself from harm. And who harming the earth? We are. We are the virus that causes the earth to activate its antibodies.

So, as you see, we are suppose to save ourselves, not the earth. All the natural events and disasters that we see around us are actually how the earth's defense system work. The earth is protecting itself by destroying us, the virus. Then eventually, the earth will restore to it's equilibrium state again... after it destroys all the virus, which is us. See what's happening?

How about the animals? Animals will be fine. They can detect disasters much earlier than us. We use devices, because our human senses are so limited. Animals, on the other hands, detects with their own senses. They can detect even the slightest abnormality in vibration, pressure, temperature, air flow, etc. And they know where to run to, and they act fast. In the end, we humans are the dumb ones. We sense slow, and we move slow. And we still think of saving "the world", whatever that means to you.

I believe it is better that we think of saving ourselves first. The idea is simple. Just don't be a harmful virus to the earth. The earth's antivirus is much stronger than all of us combined. Be a friend to the earth and the earth will be your friend as well. Anger the earth, and the earth will bring its wrath on you. Pollute the earth and the earth will oppose you. Look at the animals. They did no harm to the earth, and the earth responded likewise. Whenever any disaster occurs, do we hear of dead animal bodies? We see dead humans instead. Whenever we hear of dead animals, it's always due to human activities.

The earth will survive. Animals will survive. Plants will survive. Humans? We better think twice. "Save ourselves from the world", not "Save the world".

Amazing idea!

That’s an anti-weapons and recycling program all rolled into one!"
